Teradek Unveils New Bolt 4K Solutions
The Bolt 4K LT Max is a 4K HDR wireless video solution featuring 5,000' line-of-sight range, and the Bolt 4K Monitor Module TX features built-in wireless camera control.
Teradek has introduced the Bolt 4K LT Max, a 4K HDR wireless video solution featuring 5,000' line-of-sight range in a compact form factor, and the Bolt 4K Monitor Module TX, a SmallHD-integrated system featuring built-in wireless camera control.
The Bolt 4K LT Max is the latest addition to the award-winning Bolt 4K family and is interoperable with the entire lineup of Bolt 4K, Bolt 4K LT and Bolt 4K Monitor Modules.
“The Bolt 4K LT line is the onramp to 4K and HDR on-set monitoring, but until now it has been missing an ultra-long-range powerhouse,” says Greg Smokler, general manager of Cine Production at Creative Solutions. “We’ve taken the pocket-sized envelope of the 4K LT and packed in the long-range performance of the full Bolt 4K Max, resulting in the perfect balance of size and performance.”
Bolt 4K LT’s visuals also got a boost, enabling true HDR on-set monitoring. With a redesigned wireless chipset and RF hardware sending 10-bit 4:2:2 video at up to 4Kp30 via HDMI and 1080p60 via SDI, Bolt 4K LT Max provides sharper images and richer color detail. It contains built-in connectivity to Android and iOS devices. The Bolt Manager app allows for quick pairing and configuration and enhanced encryption.
“The Bolt 4K LT Max’s increased range, design and image quality may get all the press, but future-proofing, interoperability and security are just as important to our industry,” Smokler notes. “Those details are ultimately what inspire confidence and trust.”
The Bolt 4K Monitor Module TX is a SmallHD-integrated system that enables users to take control of their Arri cameras wirelessly from up to 750' away. (Teradek will introduce 1,500'-capable TX/RX models and Red Komodo and DSMC2 wireless control later this summer.)
The Bolt 4K Monitor Module integrates into any SmallHD Smart 7 Monitor, which unifies the power source, mounting point and cabling into a thin, light assembly. The module brings wireless camera control to both the SmallHD and Bolt 4K line of products, eliminating the need for extra devices and cumbersome remote systems.
Powered by Teradek’s BB3 chipset, the Bolt 4K Monitor Module TX is fully compatible with the entire Bolt 4K line. Existing users of SmallHD’s camera-control software can take advantage of the new wireless functionality at no additional charge via an upcoming firmware update as long as they are using their monitors with a Bolt 4K Monitor Module TX/RX set.
