Power Gems has announced the Gen 2, a high-speed ballast designed to operate in high humidity.
Featuring a modular design for easy maintenance, the Gen 2 will be showcased at the Cine Gear ATL Expo in October. Its features include Autoscan as standard, 1000Hz output for high-speed filming, compensation of lamp-cable volt drop, pluggable power modules, and fluoropolymer coating of PCBS to protect against high humidity.
In addition, the Gen 2 is fitted with silicon-carbide components, greatly reducing heat buildup within units. Temperature-controlled fans ensure proper operation in high ambient temperatures. The Gen 2 can operate any lamp from 6K to 18K. Its modular design allows users to pop out a faulty module and repair it at their leisure.
