These new Angénieux offerings made their debut at IBC 2017. The Optimo Style 48-130mm mid-range zoom was joined by an exciting redesign, the Angénieux Optimo Ultra 12x

As a replacement for both the Optimo 24-290mm and 28-340mm, the Optimo Ultra 12x is a full-frame PL mount T/4.2 zoom designed with a switchable sub-mount system. Calling it their IRO Interchangeable Rear Optics technology, optional mounts includes sized rear and rings, essentially offering three lenses in one purchase price.

Two packages are available. The Angénieux Standard Optimo Ultra 12x U35 kit (seen above) comes with Zoom S35 mount and U35 mount.

The Angénieux Full Optimo Ultra 12x FF/VV bundle (seen above) adds the FF/VV rear and rings to the Standard Optimo offerings. A carrying handle and front protective glass are available separately. With additional lens mounts promised, the lens will also accommodate to the Angénieux Optimo 1.4x and 2x extenders.

For Super 35 coverage, the S35 starts the lens off with an imaging circle at 31.1mm to cover Super 35 and both 4-perf and 3-perf equivalent sensors. For Arri’s Open Gate format at 3414 x 2198 as well as higher-resolution Super 35 sensors such as the Red 8K Helium and the 6K Dragon, the U35 mount expands coverage to 34.6mm. Finally, the FF/VV lens mount covers 46.3mm for full-frame cameras like the Sony Venice, Panavision Millennium DXL, Arri Alexa 65 (cropped to full frame), and the Red Weapon with new 8K Monstro sensor.

First announced at NAB in April, the Angénieux Optimo Style 48-130mm (T/3.0) zoom with 34.6mm coverage is the third lightweight compact zoom in the company’s line of Optimo Style series lenses. Presented as their top-shelf family of zoom solutions for professional filmmaking and production, Angénieux also manufactures the Optimo Style 16-40mm (T2.8) and the Optimo Style 30-76mm (T2.8) lenses.

Designed as a solution for Steadicam, sticks, remote heads, gimbals or rigs, the Optimo Style 48-130mm weighs only 4.3 lbs and has minimum focus of 3’ 1”. Its interchangeable mount system can be swapped from PL to Canon EF to Panavision PV.

Developed in partnership with Band Pro Film & Digital Inc., the Angénieux Optimo Ultra 12x is available alongside other Angénieux models at the company’s locations in Burbank, New York, Tel Aviv and Munich.
