June 2021 Issue of AC Offers Special Focus on Still Photography

Capturing the perfect single image depends upon a variety of creative criteria, as well as the intent of the photographer. In this special issue, ASC members and other experts discuss their approach to the art form.

The upcoming June issue of American Cinematographer is a special collectors edition devoted to still photography. Presented are a selection of images from the ASC Photo Gallery, a showcase of location-scout stills, and a collection of SMPSP photos of cinematographers at work. Also featured are a pair of ASC members — one of whom details his street-photography experiences and techniques, and another who recalls his early years as a professional still photographer. Here’s a look at this month’s slate:

Stephen Goldblatt, ASC, BSC recalls his early days as a still photographer, specializing in shooting rocks bands including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who.
