The company announces the Fujinon Premista 19-45mm T2.9 zoom lens, the SK35-700mm PL Mount Telephoto Box Lens and Duclos Lenses' new MK lens mount.

Fujifilm North America Corp. recently announced the Fujinon Premista 19-45mm T2.9 cinema zoom lens for large-format-sensor cameras, previewed the SK35-700mm PL Mount Telephoto Box Lens, and introduced an MK lens mount developed by Duclos Lenses that makes Fujinon MK zoom lenses compatible with a variety of RF-mount camera bodies.

The lightweight, wide-angle Premista 19-45mm T2.9 expands the Premista family of zooms to three, joining the 28-100mm T2.9 and the 80-250mm T2.9-3.5. The 19-45mm produces images with natural bokeh, high resolution, accurate color rendition and controllable flare with minimal ghosting for capturing high dynamic range.

“The response we’ve seen to the Premista lenses since their 2019 launch has been tremendous both in terms of excitement and usage,” says Thomas Fletcher, director of marketing for Fujifilm North America’s Optical Services Division. “Now, with stricter safety and efficiency needs on set, there is a growing demand for high-quality zoom lenses that match the quality and ‘look’ of prime lenses and efficiently capture images without the hassle of having to frequently change lenses. The Premista family checks all the boxes.”

The Premista 19-45mm is scheduled for release in early 2021.

Fujifilm developed the Fujinon SK35-700mm PL Mount Telephoto Box Lens (SK35-700) for 8K television applications, but the company now seeks to repurpose it in response to the emerging needs of the multi-camera cinema-style production market.

The lens features a 20x high-magnification zoom, covering a focal range of 35mm-700mm at F2.8 (35-315mm) and F4.8 (at 700mm). The SK35-700, which measures 28" long, also features a 1.4x extender, which brings the range to 49mm-980mm on S35 cameras.

Duclos Lenses’ Fujinon MK-R is an RF-mount conversion that is available for the Fujinon MK 18-55mm T2.9 and MK 50-135mm T2.9 zoom lenses. Once converted to Canon RF mount, the MK zooms can be used on a variety of RF-mount camera bodies, including Red’s Komodo 6K camera.

“We were so impressed with the performance, size and weight of the Fujinon MK zooms it made sense to engineer a solution to pair them with the new Red Komodo,” says Matthew Duclos of Duclos Lenses. “I didn’t want to sacrifice any of the functionality of the zooms, and this proved to be quite a challenge during initial design. After quite a few revisions, we’re very happy with the results.”

The conversion does not affect the manufacturer warranty, and all of the original lens features, including the adjustable back-focus and integrated macro function, are fully maintained. The mount components are manufactured from aerospace-grade billet aluminum anodized to withstand the rigors of production use.

Duclos Lenses will perform the conversion for current owners of MK zooms for $495 — $405 if the lenses were originally purchased at Duclos.
