New Zealand company Boxfish Research has released the Boxfish Luna underwater drone.

Able to capture images up to 3,300' underwater, the Luna utilizes advanced imaging from the Sony a7S III or Sony a1 with a 250mm glass dome or a 200mm precision optical dome. With the Sony a1, users can record in full frame up to 8K 10-bit 4:2:0 30p video and 4K 10-bit 4:4:4 video. 4K ProRes Raw and 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 120p can be recorded with both the Sony a1 and a7S III cameras.

Precision zoom control, shutter speed, aperture, focus, white balance, ISO and exposure mode can be managed directly from the control station.

“This new drone was specifically designed for underwater film production,” says Craig Anderson, cofounder, Boxfish Research. “It gives the user full creative freedom to capture the incredible diversity of the undersea world.”
