The new lens and its forthcoming 21-56mm companion are designed to eventually replace the award-winning 15-40mm and 28-76mm Optimo zooms.

Angénieux has released the 37-102mm T2.9 Full Frame Optimo Ultra Compact Zoom, the first such lens in a series of two, and it was recently showcased by Band Pro Film & Digital, Inc., with special events in New York and Los Angeles.

Band Pro, the exclusive partner for Angénieux lenses in the Americas, is taking preorders for the lens.

The 37-102mm and the forthcoming 21-56mm Full Frame Optimo Ultra Compact Zoom are designed to pair with Optimo Ultra 12X and Optimo Prime series lenses to create a complete Angénieux full-frame solution.

The Full Frame Optimo series of compact zoom lenses is the result of decades of expertise in precision optics and mechanics. The 37-102mm and the 21-56mm are the direct descendants of the Academy Award-winning Optimo 15-40mm and 28-76mm lenses, and they are intended to eventually replace them on movie sets.

Lightweight and compact, these new lenses offer consistent image quality from T2.9 to T22 and at every focal length and focus distance. The iris is also capable of closing completely.
