Wrap Shot: Gerald Hirschfeld, ASC on Stanley Cortez, ASC
It was 1943. I’d been in the Army for about a year and couldn’t believe that I was stationed at the Signal Corps Photographic Center at Long Island City in New York. As a civilian, I lived in New York City, where I had worked as a still photographer, and was fortunate in being transferred to the training film division of the Army. Our base was the old Paramount Studios in the 1920s and ’30s, and is now the Kaufman Astoria Studios. Hirschfeld in a shot taken during his Army days.
